Please join KAN-WIN, UIC’s Asian American Resource and Cultural Center, UIC’s Women’s Leadership and Resource Center, UIC’s Global Asian Studies Program, Anakbayan Chicago, and Anakbayan at UIC for a screening of the documentary, The Apology, by Canadian director Tiffany Hsiung.
The Apology follows the stories of three “comfort women” survivors — Gil Won-Ok halmeoni from Korea, grandma Cao Hei Mao from China, and Lola Adela Reyes Barroquillo from the Philippines. These three survivors were among the estimated 200,000 women and girls kidnapped and coerced into military sexual slavery by the Imperial Japanese Army leading up to and during World War II.
Following the screening will be a Q&A session with director Tiffany Hsiung. Please RSVP at bit.ly/THEAPOLOGY
