SUMMARY:Breaking Boundaries: Pedagogies of Global Asia Symposium
DESCRIPTION:Join the Global Asian Studies Program (GLAS) at the University of Illinois, Chicago for a symposium bringing together scholars, students, and community partners working to develop pedagogies of Global Asian Studies. As an interdisciplinary field bridging ethnic and area studies, GLAS uses an expansive lens to study Asian diasporas, transnationalism, and globalization. This symposium will offer insights on the challenges and opportunities of teaching and learning across divisions between disciplines, spaces, and periods. We seek to break the boundaries separating the university from the communities we live and work among.    Session 1: Community-GLAS Partnerships: What is Our Relationship to Community?  Thursday, April 7  7:30pm ? 9:00pm CST    What is GLAS?s relationship to our communities? How do we build robust, long-lasting, and ethical (non-extractive, decolonial) relationships with community partners and organizations? How do we build partnerships that support community members, students, and scholars/teachers?    Moderated by A.
