Available: Teaching Assistant Positions in the Global Asian Studies Program for Fall 2022 and Spring 2023

The Global Asian Studies Program (GLAS) seeks applicants for two teaching assistant positions – each at 50% (20 hours/week) for GLAS 100: Introduction to Global Asian Studies in Fall 2022 and Spring 2023.

The Fall 2022 course schedule is as follows:

  • Lecture: MW 1:00-1:50pm
  • Discussion Sections are all on Friday:
  • 10:00 - 10:50 am
  • 11:00 – 11:50 am
  • 12:00 – 12:50 pm
  • 1:00 - 1:50 pm

The Spring 2023 course schedule is TBA. The position comes with a tuition waiver.

Details of the position for each TA:

  • holding two of the four discussion sections (see schedule above)
  • attending course lectures (Monday and Wednesday 1-2 pm)
  • grading
  • holding office hours for students
  • attending meetings with the instructor

To apply: Applicants must be UIC graduate students in good academic standing. Applicants should submit a cover letter of interest, curriculum vitae, unofficial graduate school transcript, and the names and contact information of two referees, at least one of whom should have knowledge of the applicant’s teaching abilities/experience.
