Fredy González, Institute for Humanities Faculty Fellow for 2021-2022
Dr. Fredy González receives the UIC Institute for Humanities Faculty Fellow Award for 2021 – 2022 to work on his book project, “Forging the Cantonese Diaspora: A Global History of the Chee Kung Tong.” This book project will recover a transnational history of the political activities of the Chee Kung Tong, a sworn brotherhood which was one of the largest immigrant associations within the Cantonese diaspora.
Fredy González is an Associate Professor of Global Asian Studies and History. His research focuses on Asian diasporas in Latin America, particularly on the Chinese diaspora.
