Gayatri Reddy Publishes a Book Preface and a Review

Gayatri Reddy published the Preface for the book, Badhai: Hijra-Khwaja Sira-Trans Performance Across Borders in South Asia, London: Bloomsbury (by Hossain, Pamment, and Roy) and a book review of Governing Gender and Sexuality in Colonial India: The Hijra, c. 1850-1900 by Jessica Hinchy, Contributions to Indian Sociology.

Gayatri Reddy’s is a sociocultural anthropologist and her research and teaching interests lie at the intersections of sexuality, gender, health, and the politics of subject and community-formation in India, as well as within the immigrant South Asian queer community in the U.S. Broadly, her work interrogates the contours of cultural belonging through the paradoxical dialectic of “alienation and intimacy.”
