Giving Tuesday 2023 Results!
GLAS raised a total of $1,340 from donations made by faculty, staff, alumni, students, and community leaders. They will be donated to the UIC Arab American Cultural Center.
As part of our Giving Tuesday “gifts,” we ran a special raffle and donated the following to four of our donors.
- Signed copies of Prof. Karen Su’s four children’s books on Asian American leaders Grace Lee Boggs, Philip Vera Cruz, Yuri Kochiyama, and Dalip Singh Saund
- A digital copy of the special edition of Caldero Cookbook that contains my students’ original recipes from my Cultural Politics of Asian American Food class. The cookbook also contains recipes from friends and community leaders like the vegan halo-halo sundae from Justice Cream, Flor Clarito’s amazing Filipino Pinakbet that is packed with veggie goodness, and IL State Representative of the 2nd district Theresa Mah’s homemade Sichuan chili oil!
- A set of postcards with beautiful artwork that various UIC student artists produced for the Dis/Placements Project – a public history project featuring the Uptown neighborhood
- A set of cool GLAS swag (tote bag and t-shirt) that contains one of the three beautiful designs of our students
