Grant Received: Prof. Rooshey Hasnain and ADOPT

Congratulations to Prof. Rooshey Hasnain and her Asians with Disabilities Outreach Project Think Tank (ADOPT) team, which was just awarded an additional grant funding of $139,818, which brings their total funding amount to $272,221 for FY14.

The ADOPT initiative partners with organizations that provide services to Asian American populations in the greater Chicago area to increase their access and participation in the Illinois Division of Rehabilitation Services. With this additional funding, Prof. Hasnain's research team will be able to introduce a number of new initiatives including language access issues, GIS mapping, and data mining techniques to better craft interventions that improve vocational rehabilitation/employment outcomes for Asians with disabilities in partnerships with several community partners. They are also creating new opportunities for additional community organizations to serve as contracted Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) providers that will help broaden their outreach efforts in other parts of Chicago.
