Dr. Naomi Paik, together with graduate students at UIUC, with coauthored a piece that has been published in the Journal of Academic Freedom entitled “Toward Abolitionist Unionism: Resisting Pandemics, Police, and Academic Austerity at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.” It is an incredibly important piece that documents the work of DefundUIPD and the GEO at UIUC, and what abolitionist unionism promises in navigating the neoliberal university.
