Solidarity with SEIU Local 73 and INA
The UIC Interdisciplinary Programs - Black Studies, Gender & Women’s Studies, Global Asian Studies and Latin American and Latino Studies - stand in solidarity with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU Local 73) and the Illinois Nurses Association (INA) - and the 4,000 frontline workers as they negotiate a Fair Contract. These unions are fighting for a contract that would allow them to work with dignity and respect - including the fight for a living wage, adequate protective equipment, and a safe and manageable caseload. As educators in interdisciplinary programs that were established as a result of movements for equality and social justice, we respect the struggle for labor rights. We stand in solidarity with our colleagues.
