Kwentuhan sa Rizal Center (Storytelling at Rizal Center) Project and What’s in your Balikbayan Box?
These newsletters highlight a collaboration with the newly reclaimed community space – the Rizal Center of Chicago. Students conducted oral histories with Rizal Center’s Filipino American Council of Greater Chicago (FACGC) Board members.
Their work will become part of an ongoing oral history project to document and write the history of the Rizal Center, with the hope of contextualizing its present and envisioning its future.
The artwork –“What’s in Your Balikbayan Box” – was drawn and painted by Ria Bonjoc - and reflects the concepts/themes that students selected to capture each week’s lesson.
